Health checkups in Korea for foreigners: packages, preparation and results
A package name is only the beginning of a health checkup comparison. Overseas visitors need the actual examination list, a clear account of optional items and a plan for receiving and discussing results after the visit.
In this guide
Compare the examination list, not the package name

Ask each centre for its complete included-item list. “Basic,” “premium” and similar names are not standardised across institutions. Separate included examinations from options where you choose a stated number of items.
KMI’s foreigner examination page, for example, distinguishes package content and choice groups. That is a reason to read the selection rules, not to assume its package structure or current availability applies at another centre.
Ask about optional examinations separately
Ask a physician which, if any, additional examinations are appropriate for your history and purpose. A longer list of tests is not by itself a reason to select a package. Request the price of every option under consideration.
For an endoscopy inquiry, ask whether sedation is offered and separately charged, and whether sampling or other findings can generate additional costs. A sedation-management fee should not be presented as the full endoscopy price.
Get preparation instructions from the centre
Ask for written preparation instructions before travel and a contact for questions about regular medication, previous results and relevant medical history. Follow the centre’s individual instructions rather than changing medication or preparation based on a general article.
Ask what happens if the required preparation is incomplete, whether an examination may need rescheduling, and which parts of the quote would then apply. Obtain the proposed appointment schedule and any companion requirements directly.
Clarify reports, language and follow-up
Ask which results are discussed during the visit, which arrive later and in what language and format. Confirm whether a clinician review, translated report or imaging files have a separate charge.
Request the contact route for results requiring further assessment and ask how records can reach your doctor at home. Confirm the exact branch, identification requirements, interpretation arrangements and cancellation policy before choosing among the catalogue listings.
A saved sedation row is not a checkup package total
Our saved Bumin Prestige Lifecare Center Magok table, checked 23 October 2026, lists gastroscopy sedation management at KRW 71,000. That is a separate management fee, not the endoscopy examination or complete checkup price. VAT, sedative and dose, monitoring scope and effective or expiry dates are unspecified. Keep the examination and any required additional charges separate when requesting the centre’s complete quote.
