VISITOR GUIDE · 2026-10-19
Which clinic category should you browse in Korea?
A care category helps organise a large catalogue; it is not a diagnosis. You can start with the part of your health you want assessed and then ask a clinic whether its department is appropriate. This is especially useful when you know your concern in everyday language but not the name of a medical specialty.
In this guide
Use the concern you can describe accurately

Write down what you want help with in ordinary words. A missing tooth, an eye examination and a recurring rash lead to different starting categories, even when you do not know which treatment might be discussed. Avoid selecting a procedure name merely because it is familiar from social media.
Read the service description as a second step
A broad category does not establish that a clinic offers every treatment associated with it. Look for the published service you want to ask about and check which branch the description concerns. If the relevant information is missing, keep the question open rather than converting the absence into a positive or negative claim.
Check whether more than one department is involved
An existing clinician may have suggested a specialty assessment or a particular test. Bring that recommendation and ask which appointment would review it. Do not assume that a screening programme includes treatment of any concern found during the screening; those can be separate appointments and costs.
Use region filters after the category
Once the category is sensible, narrow the catalogue to the city or district that fits your stay. Compare exact addresses and the available information instead of reading every institution in the country. If the first clinic says a different department is needed, update the search rather than forcing the original category to fit.

Distinguish a symptom enquiry from a procedure enquiry
If you are seeking an explanation for a symptom, describe that symptom rather than selecting a popular device or procedure first. If you already have a diagnosis or referral, state it and bring the report. If your goal is elective cosmetic care, explain the concern and ask how the clinician assesses options. These starting points lead to different conversations even when the catalogue category looks similar.
Skin and aesthetic care is a broad browsing category: a reported dermatology service does not by itself establish a dermatologist credential or every cosmetic procedure. Dental care can include general assessment or a particular area such as orthodontics. Eye care includes examinations as well as surgical assessment. Read the available service description and then confirm whether the exact appointment will address your concern.
Use a broad category when uncertainty is real
General and specialist care is a reasonable browsing route when the relevant department is unclear, but it should not be used to delay urgent assessment. A catalogue cannot safely triage new severe symptoms. When you have a referral or previous clinician’s advice, use that information to ask about the appropriate department rather than matching symptoms to an advertising keyword.
Make your shortlist around service fit, location and the questions you still need answered. A hospital with many departments may be useful for one enquiry, while a focused clinic may be relevant to another; neither institution type is a universal recommendation. KoreaClinicGo lists sourced information to support that comparison. If a clinic redirects you to another department, update the enquiry and the category instead of assuming the first search must be correct.
